I offer a variety of editing services
• Tell me about your project. Is it a novel into which you’ve poured your heart and soul?
• Is it a term paper and your professor is a stickler for a perfectly formatted bibliography?
• Do you need your resume refreshed for that new job you are seeking?
I will listen for the passion in your voice, determine what it is you need, and then use my experience, training and intuition to make it the best document possible.
I fix the grammar, spelling and punctuation, too! What I do:
Substantive Editing, Copy Editing, Proofreading, Research, Writing
Substantive Editing: This is reading your manuscript and providing an analysis of the plot, characters, narrative, consistency, foreshadowing, style as well as pointing out reoccurring errors in spelling and grammar, and suggesting reorganizations of content and structure. I would not make changes, only suggest them.
Copy Editing: This is reading for errors in grammar, spelling, punctuation, as well as the items noted above. I would make the changes in the manuscript directly or using the editing function.
Proofreading: This is reading a manuscript for format as well as content, assuming it is being sent next to a printer or uploaded to a print-on-demand site. This includes reviewing resumes, reports and other final drafts of documents. It includes items noted in a Beta Read and Copy Editing.
Research: Do you need information on a topic but don’t have time or interest in scouring the internet for information? I can do a search for you and present to you a report of the best URLs and quotes from those sites.
Writing: I can write and rewrite your resume, write speeches, ghost-write blogs, and write articles for newsletters or your website. I can help with things like footnotes and bibliographies.
Life coaching: Do you have a different kind of project you want to do? I can work with you to set goals, determine values and work through obstacles. I am a certified life coach through Adler graduate school and trained to help you see different perspectives. “Coaching is cheaper than never living your dreams.”
